Christmas day! By J-Fro

First off, we really appreciate all of the comments. It means a lot to have concerned friends. So our Christmas was an adventure. We went to the Vietnam war museum and the Revolutionary war museum near our hotel. The Vietnam war museum was intense as Americans walking through with thousands of Photographs of war torn Vietnam. The museum makes it a one sided account and they hold nothing back as they show their women and babies blown apart, burned and tortured. We walked quietly and respectfully through as there are a lot of Vietnamese visitors there. Here are a few pics.

Sabian's 8 am nap. He wakes up at 5:45 am! When was the last time anyone saw me at 5:45 in the am?!

Morning walking practice with mom.

Happy Sabian!

And still happy.

The Revolutionary war museum.

I was shocked how small the planes were.

Sabian's not afraid of the cat.

"Quite frankly, I don't think they got my joke!"

These people were very kind, she wanted to play with Sabian and asked us alot of questions. Everyone always asks what his name is. They want to see if you are disregarding his Given Vietnamese name. We always say his full Vietnamese name Cuong Hung Do. We explain that we are keeping Cuong as his middle name because we love it. They always seem pleased. You must be very careful to come across grateful and honored to be with them. Regardless, you either get nice and curious like this family, or ignored and watched from a distance.

It's interesting to watch Sabian with Vietnamese women. Last night we ate at an italian restaurant. We were the only customers because it was early, 4:00 pm. So there were about 6 young women waiting to serve the dinner crowds coming later. We ordered and the waitress said she wanted to hold Sabian. We gave Sabian to her and she walked around the restaraunt with him and the other girls showered him with attention. We thought she just wanted to hold him for a minute, but she meant she wanted to hold him so we could eat! Amazing kindness from alot of the people here. But I am writing to say that Michelle and I were worried he would be grumpy and wanting us, but the fact is he was seeing them as his nannies he has known his short life. They were dressed in white uniforms like nannies and of course speaking to him in that familiar sounding language. He was laughing and loving it. They passed him around taking turns and you could literally see his recognition of what he has known for 10 months. It was as if he enjoyed a break from the hard work of getting to know us and our sounds. These are the little things to think about with international adoption. He will always have a connection to something we are not a part of, and thats fine.

Good morning Vietnam! I predict Sabian will like that movie with Robin Williams as the American DJ during the war. I didn't know you could reply to the blog, my bad. Merry Christmas! The kids include you guys in our prayers every night. We are all anxious for you to bring Sabian home. Looks like the place is pretty neat.

How fun! When we got home with Tyler, every time we encountered someone who was of Chinese heritage, he would gravitate to them. He would also really respond when someone spoke in Chinese to him. It was fun to see him respond in those situations.

Now, his favorite words are "Uh, Uh MaMa!!!!...so the English has definitely taken hold.
Thanks again for sharing your adventure. I hope to meet your son soon!
